Board Meeting

HonorHonoring John Allen Moore

Since our last newsletter, John Moore, the chairman of the CUPS board, lost his courageous battle with neuroendocrine tumors, dying peacefully at his Austin, TX home on April 2, 2014. John was a man of great faith and an extremely passionate leader of the CUPS board. His contributions and presence on the board will be greatly missed.

John Allen Moore

John was born on March 30, 1948 in Danville, Pennsylvania to the late Isaac and Jane Allen Moore. He was raised in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky. John was a licensed professional engineer with a broad range of expertise in the power industry. He was a well-respected member of numerous professional organizations and made significant contributions to the energy marketplace throughout his career.

John was a very devoted family man and often spoke with great pride about his children and grandchildren. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand and made the world a better place. His passion for helping others took on the form of serving with CUPS on mission trips which eventually led to his becoming chairman of its board of directors. As its chairman, John brought compassion and enthusiasm to his role in leading the board as it struggled with the effects that fear over drug violence has had on CUPS and its ministry to our friends and neighbors in Mexico. John will be remembered for his leadership and all the good he accomplished in his lifetime.

Many of you have already made memorial contributions to CUPS in John's name and we thank you for honoring John in this way. To further honor John, we plan to use the funds given in his name to rebuild a classroom in Mano De Leon, Mexico. In order to reach this goal, we need to double the amount already given. If you feel led to support this effort to rebuild the classroom, you can donate to CUPS in John's honor by clicking here or mail CUPS a check to the address below. Please be sure to specify that the donation is for the John Moore Memorial fund.
